Wednesday 3/4

Libros on the Lawn (all day)

Promote reading for pleasure and take your class outside to enjoy some sunshine (hopefully) and read a book. Let me know in advance if and when you are planning to do this and there just might be a snack and prize in your students' futures. Thank you to Mr. Chiang for enlisting the help of his students to design a TRW bookmark for this event!

Thursday 3/5

Poetry in the library (all day)

Make an appointment to bring your class in! I will have stations for magnetic poetry, spine poetry, black-out poetry, and maybe even a little haiku. I can cater the activities to meet the needs of any grade, any level, any amount of time, and even any subject matter. Just let me know!

Because the library is packed with students on late-start Fridays, we will have our social event in the PDC. Please stop by for some yummy breakfast!

Reading Prizes

Stand-out students participating in the Accelerated Reader program will be honored and awarded prizes for their achievements in reading during TRW. Thank you to Mrs. Padilla for helping with this! If you have students who excel in reading, but do not participate in AR, please let me know. I will include them in the festivities.

Classroom Guests

Administrators, counselors, and district leaders will be invited to visit classrooms to share their words of wisdom and literary inspiration. Please let me know if you would like someone to come into your class.

Photography Challenge

Photography students are competing for the best #bookface photo. Mr. Zeko's students have already started the challenge, but it is open to all students! Deadline to submit photo is Friday, February 28th. Prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

March BOOK Madness!

Spread the love of books and reading and participate in the "ER Road to the Final Four!" I will be sending out surveys so students can nominate their all-time favorite books. Which book will earn the Dons' top spot- will it be The OutsidersThe Hate U Give, or maybe even The Crucible!? Stay tuned to find out!  The bracket will be displayed in the library and students who correctly predict the winner will receive a prize. Thank you to Ms. Jepsen for the great idea!

In honor of Teen Read Week and to help promote a culture of literacy on campus, please take just a couple of minutes sometime during the week to share a book that has been meaningful to you with your students. It can be anything from a comic to a classic. Bonus points if you send me a picture with you and your book OR tweet it at @MrsMetaxasERHS !!!

I've created a ERHS Library Wish List on Amazon. If you would like to donate a book, a bookplate will be placed inside and your name will forever be immortalized as a patron of the ERHS library! Some titles are under $10 and many are between $10-$15.

Thank you for your support
