a)ASB Report
PAST: These past few months we held our canned food drives. This event was a big success. It was a class competition among. The Sophomores came in 4th, Freshmen in 3rd, Juniors in 2nd and Seniors in 1st. We also had a Spirit Week. Monday was Mix Matched Day, Tourist Tuesday, We are ER Wednesday, Throw Back Thursday and Footie PJ Friday/Senior Sunrise.
PRESENT: Girls are practicing for Powder Puff game, boys will be cheerleaders. The Powder Puff game will be on December 18th.
FUTURE: Later this month, we will be having our annual Christmas tree decorating contest. Each class decorates a tree according to their theme. After the competition, the trees will be given to needy families for the holidays.
b)Special Education Report--Ms. Farris reported that Job Club presentations were made to students in Special Education programs. College trips to be planned for the near future.
c)DAC--Officers elected for the year, review of Parent Involvement Policy and evaluation feedback.
d)DELAC--Received requirements of DAC meetings, what must take place at each meeting, all meetings must be posted on campus, representative asked to collect feedback at SSC meetings regarding parent involvement to share with DELAC members.
e)Principal’s Report--Presented by Ms. Jazmin Chavez-Diaz
Coffee with the Principal event on 1/15/15 at 8:30am and 5:30pm. Trip to CSULB on 12/13/14, parents invited to attend School Wide Action Team (SWAT) meetings held on Monday and Friday mornings at 7:45am. Ethnic Studies survey distributed during SSC meeting.
f)Bell Schedule-Ms. Carreon
Possible 8th period in the afternoon. Discussed idea of 7 period day or block schedule. Student survey will be available on Don Page. Need parent input to gather feedback about what would be good for students. Strong interest in incorporating student involvement and selecting representatives from each grade level to include input from diverse set of learners. District approval for bell schedule will be finalized on May 1st. Ms. Carreon to present data and feedback results at future 2015 SSC meeting.
Increased budget will cover teacher training for Project Lead the Way ($2000). Josie Cambero motioned to approve SPSA, second Ms. Farris.
