Call to order
Alfredo Martinez called to order the regular meeting at 5:03PM on 11/14/2012 in the school library.

Approval of minutes from last meeting
School site council members individually read the October 3rd regular meeting and October 10th meeting minutes. Esther Mejia motioned/ Teresa Villegas seconded the October 3rd minutes. Raul Elias motioned /Sam Genis seconded the October 10th special meeting. Minutes were approved as read.
Student representatives report- Maricruz Argueta, Isaac Carlos, Mia Castillo, Sydney Woo reported the following:
- 10/19 Staff appreciation pep rally. A well amount of teachers came to support their staff and win the trivia games.
- Progress reports were sent out after Midterm week.
- 11/2 Last football game of season played against Whittier. We won 34-3. Parent night was also held for seniors.
- Currently holding a canned food drive. Class to first get to 100 lb wins a donut party. Overall winner gets a pizza party. Currently Juniors lead with 226 lbs, Freshmen 188 lbs, Seniors 147.8 lbs, and Sophomores 115.42 lbs.
- 11/14 Blood drive hosted by Key club held in the new gym

DAC report- Teresa Villegas reported that Dr. Vargas thanked parents for their participation. A tutorial was held on how DAC functions.
DELAC report- Alfredo Martinez was unable to attend due to work schedule conflict.
Special Ed- No report
EIA/SCE- Mr. Genis will report during administration report
GATE- No report
Administration- Mr. Genis reported the following:
- FPM (Federal Program Monitoring) full day review was held at El Rancho on October 25th. A couple things not found in compliance.
- 1)English Learners - uniform complaint compliance
- 2) SPSA needs to be approved earlier. Specifically needs to be approved prior to funds being spent
- 3) ELAC needs to meet to vote to be part of SSC rather than holding their own meetings
- Non -compliance items are being addressed. Uniform complaint posters being put in the classroom. SPSA will be reviewed/approved earlier going forward. A special meeting will be held to review/approve the 2012-13 SPSA. On a positive note FPM noted that expenditures reflected what was in the classroom.
- Mr. Genis shared that he attended school site council training and next school year the composition of school site council will change to reflect parity in all groups (teachers, administration, parents, students and other staff).
- Mr. Genis announced the school district has appointed Ms. Roxane Fuentes as Assistant Superintendent Educational Services.
- Open house will be held tomorrow, Nov. 15th from 5pm to 7:30 pm. All middle schools have been contacted A tele-parent reminder will be sent out tonight. All ERHS class departments, clubs and sports will be featured. Clubs and sports teams will sell food.
Separate Action items:
- SPC (School-Parent Compact) - Tabled to December 5th meeting.
- Bond information- Mr. Genis shared the school board is having a special board meeting tomorrow at 6pm regarding the bond. Being reviewed is the renovation of El Rancho's locker rooms and the construction of a new ADA compliant swimming pool. He reminded school site that the members the meeting is open to the public.
- SPSA- Mr. Genis disseminated copies of the 2012-13 SPSA and asked members to review and email comments if possible prior to meeting again to approve the document. He reminded school site it is a living document. School site council will hold a special meeting on 11/28/12 to review/approve document and have it ready for school board by 11/30/12.

Public Comment
- Ms.Ebert-Welch announced El Rancho will hold a E-Waste Recycling event on December 1st from 9AM to 1PM at the parking lot across from the school. She asked everyone to save all old electronics that they are planning to replace from purchases at Black Friday.
- Esther Mejia announced the El Rancho Cross Country made to it to CIF Division 1 Finals. Ruth Villaneda suggested the school display that accomplishment on the school marquee to show support for the team.
- Mr. Genis announced that the Whittier Narrows Ecological center approved a $30,000 scholarship to be given to a qualified El Rancho student.
