Call to order
SSC -President, Dr. Aurora Villon called to order the regular meeting at 5:08 PM in the school library.
SSC quorum was confirmed

Approval of minutes from last meeting
School site council members individually read the April 10th meeting minutes. David Angelo motioned/ Juventino Gutierrez 2nd the minutes. Motion carried and passed. Minutes approved.
Student representatives report- Taylor Torres reported the following:
- Teacher Appreciation Week/May 3-7
- Prom/May 8, 2010/Diamond Bar Center-620 attending
- Talent Show May 26, 2010/tryouts next week
- May 27, 2010/Multicultural Day
DAC report-; No report.
Special Education- (copied from Up to Speed with SPED report)Mr. Gutierrez reported the following from his “Up to Speed with SPED” report;
- The senior luncheon will be on May 26, in room S-5. This will be a potluck lunch in celebration of the hard work done by all our seniors.
- The four SDC classes will be going on a picnic/BBQ at Smith Park on Friday, June 11, 2010.
- Mr. Brandt’s Science class got very creative with their volcano project which made his students more enthusiastic about their project.
- We hope to meet at least one more time as a department in order to strategize and share ideas on how to utilize our new document readers and projectors.
- Transition meetings at the middle schools will begin immediately following CST testing. This gives us an opportunity to get to know next year’s SPED students and share with them all that our campus offers.
EIA SCE/ EIA LEP
- Mr. Genis disseminated the revised all of the purchases from March 16, 2010 to the present. The purchases were reviewed with no questions.
GATE- No report
Administration- Mr. Genis reported the following:
- CST testing begins May 3. Each teacher will be testing their own students.
- LCD projector and document camera training is going very well.
Separate Action items:
- PTSA Presentation
- Debi Salazar, Vera Johnson and Ginny Hosking, representing 33rd PTA, passed out materials and explained all areas of the PTA. This included information on scholarships, membership fees, accountability, insurance, and audits.
- There was discussion on how to get a PTSA started. The process was reviewed and discussed. Mrs. Anguillon was concerned that the focus would be more about fundraising and not parent education. Ms. Salazar assured Mrs. Anguillon that there is a parent training component from internet training to how to become an advocate.
- PTA pamphlets were distributed to all members and visitors.
- PSA Counselor
- Mr. Genis presented a need for a PSA counselor who would concentrate solely on attendance issues. Since most of our students fall under the classification EDY, this would have to be funded through categorical funds. The proposal was to fund for one year and then evaluate at the end of 2010-2011 school year (revisit in May of 2011).
- Antoinette Paez motioned to fund this PSA Counselor through categorical monies (EIA-SCE). The motion was 2nd by David Angelo. Motion carried and passed.
- c) SSC Election
- Nominations were held for three positions of the SSC. The following nominations were placed on the ballot: Esther Mejia, Alfredo Martinez, Antoinette Paez, and Teresa Navarro.
- Mr. Genis announced that a ballot would be mailed to all parents, including the incoming freshmen.
- d) Parent Leadership Council tabled

Public Comment
- Antoinette Paez expressed her involvement with 211. A pamphlet was distributed to all members and visitors. 211 provides guidance and advocacy.
- Mrs. Paez also expressed that she is studying to be an advocate.
