38th Congressional Art Contest

A number of ERHS students competed in the 16th annual 38th Congressional Art Contest. Winners were announced May 2nd at the Norwalk Arts and Sports Complex. Art students, teachers, and city officials came together to admire the artwork that was entered in the contest. Congresswoman, Linda Sanchez, representing California’s 38th Congressional District presented the winners with the certificates, ribbons, and scholarships. El Rancho High School swept the Photography portion of the competition.

Special congratulations to Grand Prize winner of 38th Congressional Art Contest, Yazlin Juarez who won a fully paid trip to Washington D.C., a $500 scholarship, and the honor of having her picture displayed in the United States Capitol building for a year!

El Rancho's photography winners included:

  • First Place in Photography and Overall Grand Prize Winner : Every Flavor of America, junior, Yazlin Juarez
  • Second Place in Photography: The Watcher by junior, Mauro Medina
  • Third Place in Photography: Young at Heart by senior, Karina Jimenez
  • Honorable Mention in Photography: Golden Simplicity by senior, Karina Jimenez
  • Honorable Mention in Photography: Risking & Reaching by junior, Leilani Larez
