- Exec had a Car Wash at Falcone's to raise money for school events/dances. $1400 was made, it was a success!
- Pepsters and Exec hosted a “Staff Breakfast” on August 22nd to welcome back teachers to a new school year.
First days:
- On the 1st day of school, Link Crew members wore their shirts just in case any freshmen needed help finding a class
- Students appeared glad to be back to school and see old friends.

- JV Football lost their first home game against Los Altos, but had many fans in the crowd to cheer them on.
- Varsity Football lost their first away game against Los Altos
- Exec has thought of many new ideas to help support and promote the different sports at El Rancho. At the 9/9/11 Varsity football game we will be having our first student zone (Blue Crew) students will be dressed in ER Attire and chanting for their team!
Class Updates:
- Each class has had at least one class meeting to start the school year with bright ideas
- Freshmen class needs more support! (Few people attended their first meeting)
- Sophomore class is leading in the right direction with the help of the students and also class advisor
- Junior class meeting went well many students attended and are ready to participate!
- Senior class ahead and on top of things, also bringing many new ideas!

-
- DELAC report – No report
- Special Education- Mr. Larrache reported there is a new “study skills” class for LH students.

- GATE- No report- still frozen
- Administration- Mr. Genis
- ERHS API is 735!
- ERHS is compliant on 17 out of the 18 requirements for AYP
- Dr. Ventura will present CAHSEE and CST scores to school site council at October meeting.
- 98% of the students passed the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam)
- Class of 2011 had 711 graduates
- Parent portal is still on hold. The district might freeze the district director of IT position.
- Naviance was used by last year’s seniors and will not be used this year. Priority is for teachers to have ABI info and access from home.
- Students will no longer be able to attend “Adult school” to make up credits. Options for students to make up credits will be to send them out to other districts that offer adult school and also an after school credit recovery program- Apex online virtual learning. Mr. Renteria also added Rio Hondo College would also be an option.
- 9/22 is the compliance deadline for TDAP immunization. Currently 160 students still need to comply.
- 9/23 Football field will be dedicated to Ernie Johnson. The stadium still remains Don Memorial. That same night is teacher appreciation night.
- Parents are encouraged to use the Don page for school information. http://www.erusd.k12.ca.us/ElRancho/default.aspx
- ERHS official twitter account ElRanchoHS
- There are 10 parent volunteers that were cleared by the districts human resources. As of 9/7 the parent volunteers are assisting in tardy sweeps.
- There were about 53,000 tardies in the last school year. 66% of them were in 1st period. Tardiness impedes academic progress.
- An unexcused absence amounts to truancy. Absences cost the school money since funds from state are calculated by ADA (average daily attendance). Although we have the 3rd highest attendance in the district we will strive for higher.
